date of local election in nepal may 14 or baisakh 31

The meeting of Prachanda Cabinet today has decided to hold local election on Baisakh 31, 2074 BS (May 14, 2017).
The third meeting of Cabinet has decided to hold the election on 14th May in a single Phase through out the country as informed by minister of information and communication, Mr. Ram Karki.

Earlier the first meeting of the cabinet had decided to increase the number of  local governing body which will be  advised by the team of local development minister Hitaraj Pandey within 7 days.

The Madhesi Morcha who have been demanding the amendment in the constitution before declaring the local election haven’t reacted yet. Although Prime Minister Prachanda has been trying to convince the Morcha that the amendment process will continue along with the declaration of election.
The main opposition CPN UML has been obstructing the amendment process citing it a anti-national move.
