Update:The death toll has reached 32
A deadly landslide has hit Jure village of Mankha Village Development Committee in Sindhupalchok district of Nepal.A whole village has been swiped away by the landslide that happened around 2 am last night.8 people have been found dead of which only 6 have been identified so far.It is estimated that around 200 people are missing in the landslide which has blocked the Sunkoshi river resulting into a dam up to 2 kilometers above which has drowned around 150 homes.

Nepal’s Prime Miniser Sushil Koirala has directed all the concerned bodies to expedite the rescue process whereas the meeting of security bodies have thought about blasting the barrage as it might wash away a large area of land on the lower area when the barrage breaks at once which has frightened the people.People on the lower area have evacuated homes and moved to safer places.It is said that tens of thousands of villagers are forced to stay overnight under open sky as the government authority is not able to arrange them any shelter.

4 injured including a Belgium national have been rescued by helicopter and admitted at hospital in Kathmandu.
It is said that the water has started overflowing from the barrage since the afternoon after the whole day’s attempt to break it was unsuccessful.
Government has arranged to open all the doors of Saptakoshi Barrage fearing the sudden outbreak of water from the blocked Sunkoshi river.
