Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Friday has appointed UML lawmaker Kripasur Sherpa as new Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.Sherpa has taken the position after Deepak Chandra Amatya also from CPN-UML party had resigned on Wednesday.
Amatya earlier had replaced Bhim Aacharya who was pulled back due to his weak performance in the government.Minister Sherpa has already taken Oath of the position from PM Koirala.Sherpa is considered a close aid of UML party chairman K. P. Oli.
Although the main reason of Amatya’s resignation is not disclosed, Amatya has claimed that he resigned after he denied to appoint the persons at different department of Tourism Board and Civil Aviation as asked by the party leaders.However the Tourism Ministry has accused him of failing to properly handle the foreign air-crafts that landed in TIA for search, rescue and relief purposes after the devastating earthquake on April the 25th.Irrigation Minister NP Saud was handed over the airport handling job after minister Amatya was unable to handle it properly.
