Former IGP Om Bikram Rana and Hem Bahadur Gurung, and ex-AIGP Dipak Singh Thangden and ex-DIG Dipak Kumar Shrestha were sent to the Dillibazaar prison on Wednesday, according to Joint-spokesperson of the apex court Biswaraj Poudel.
The four former police personnel had surrendered before the Court, seeking deduction in the sentence. As per the legal provision, any guilty surrendering within 60 days of the verdict get a 20 per cent concession in the sentence announced on the person.
A division bench of then Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Justice Bishwambhar Shrestha had slapped two years in jail and Rs 50,000 in fine to Rana while one year in jail and Rs 40,000 in fine to Thakuri and Gurung on April 30.
The SC concluded that the convicted caused Rs 288.1 million losses to the government with connivance between the senior officials of Nepal Police and contractors during the planning formulation for good procurement, cost estimate, quotation, contracts and payments steps.
On the same day, the SC had given a verdict for six months in jail and Rs 30,000 in fine to former police officer Dipak Kumar Shrestha and Rabindra Pratap Rana and one year in jail and Rs 40,000 in fine to Shyam Singh Thapa and Dipak Singh Thangdn.
Other convicted of the case are in the absconding list.
