A protester has been killed on police firing at BP Chowk of Gaur in Rautahat district headquarter on Saturday. Police opened fire at protesters when the clash erupted between police and protester became violent and protesters attacked the police post.
The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Tabarej-18 of Tejapakhad-1 of Rautahat, a 10 grader student at Judda Secondary School in Gaur.The victim was hit in the abdomen and rushed to the district hospital before he was pronounced dead. He suffered serious internal organ injury at kidney according to Dr Krishna Shah.
Twenty policemen were injured in the clash. The Clash had erupted at different places of Rautahat between police and protesters since Saturday morning.Police said that they used tear gas and fired 6 shots in the air as warning fire but protesters continued throwing stones and bottles at security personnel outside the district police office and police were compelled to open fire on them.
On the other hand agitating group has blamed that police force opened fire on peaceful demonstration.
The local administration has imposed curfew following the incident after 4 pm. More clashes erupted at various places as the protesters kept agitating defying the curfew.
The curfew was removed on Sunday and Monday for 06 am to 10 am to ease the life for locals.
The District Security Committee has recommended the Home Ministry for compensation for the bereaved family of Sheikh.
The agitating Sanyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha has declared new protest programs after several rounds of talks with government team failed to address their demands. Government has presented 3 points roadmap to address their demands which the Morcha has denied.
