Remains of former prime minister and Nepali congress president Sushil Koirala has been cremated according to Hindu tradition at Aryaghat Pashupatinath with State Honors on Wednesday.
Koirala passed away on Thrusday night at 12:50 am at his residence at Maharajgunj.
Before the cremation Korala’s body was kept at Dasharath Stadium for public tribute and then today his body was taken to Aryaghat via Tripureshwar, Thapathali, Maitighar Mandala, Putali Sadak, Kamal Pokhari, Ratopul then finally to Aryaghat at Padhupatinath.
Koirala’s nephews Sudhanshu Koirala and Atul Koirala has lit the funeral pyre before an army troop offered him a 13-canon salute honor. Likewise, a troop of Nepal Police has given him a guard of honor while liting him the funeral pyre.
Fomer prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prachanda, prime minister KP Oli, other leaders, hundreds of general public and representatives from foreign well-wishers gathered at Pashupatinath Aryaghat to pay him final tribute.
