The much-expected talks between major three parties and the agitating Samyutta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) ended inconclusively after the proposal from Major 3 Parties were refused by the latter. The meeting was called by Prime Minister KP Oli. Earlier, a meeting of major 3 parties had decided to address the Madhesh problem based on 3 points agreement which was put forward at Saturday’s extensive talks.

First proposal from government side was to confirm inclusiveness and proportionate participation of all groups of people at all sector of government through amendment in the constitution and the second was to form a commission which would finalize the demarcation of constituencies within 3 months based on population and special geographical situation and the third and the last was the condition that agitating Morcha should end all protest programs and clear the current blockade at borders.

Morcha leaders refused the proposal and instead reiterated their 11-point demands and stressed on the demarcation of federal states as their bottom line before the agitation could be ended.

Top leaders of big three political parties Nepali Congress, CPN UML and UCPN Maoist—including Prime Minister KP Oli were present in the meeting.

Similarly , Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party Chairman Mahanta Thakur, Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and Sadbhawana Party Co-chairman Laxman Lal Karna were present in the meeting from Morcha’s side.

Top leaders of Morcha are scheduled to attend a round table meeting on Sunday with Indian top leaders including Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj.

India is probably acting as the middle-man to solve the ongoing issue as the blockade at India-Nepal border has defamed India worldwide and hampered Nepal-India relationship at it’s worst.
The politics will take a right course probably after the agitating Madhesi parties will return from India.
