Former Prime Minister and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Leader Surya Bahadur Thapa has passed away last night at Bedant Hospital India. Thapa was also the eldest member of current Constituent Assembly. Thapa was suffering from cancer and had successful intestine surgery last week but he was put into ventilator after his condition got worsened. He died at 10:50 PM Wednesday night. Thapa was accompanied by his son Sunil Bahadur Thapa who is also RPP leader and present Minister for Commerce and Supplies.
Born on 21 March 1928 at Muga village of Dhankuta district, Thapa became prime minister 5 times during 1963-64, 1965-69, 1979-83, 1997-98 and 2003-04.
He is survived by 1 son and 3 daughters.His body will be brought to Kathmandu today according to the family source.
